Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a course that was designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (ages 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge or who is in crisis. www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org

In the way regular first aid provides techniques to respond to a physical health emergency, mental health first aid assists individuals identify and respond to both mental health symptoms and psychiatric crisis

Lakeview is proud to announce that two of its staff members have been sponsored by the Local Conference of Mental Health Directors to become trainers of Youth Mental Health First Aid. Once trained, Lynne Seaward, the Children and Youth Program Director and Janelle D’Aoust, a Supportive Case Manager will be providing this valuable program training to area educators and community partners.
